Heat pumps and refrigerant

Everyone agrees that natural refrigerants are the way to go. But what do you do along the way, many people wonder? It is not just scrapping the heat pumps you have and installing new ones. There are huge amounts of new investments involved.

As we wrote a few weeks ago, refrigerants with >2500 GWP will be phased out and in 2032 there will be a refill ban on these refrigerants. This is why it is important to have a strategy for which and how much refrigerant you have.

Here are some questions to consider when you and your colleagues are developing a strategy for heat pumps in your organisation.

  1. On which of our heat pumps will there be a refuelling stop?
  2. What needs to be done with the existing heat pumps in the organisation?
  3. How old are the heat pumps and are there spare parts?
  4. Which heat pumps can be converted and which heat pumps need to be replaced?
  5. Which companies can install and service heat pumps using natural refrigerants?
