Heating system operation strategy
If you have no alarms and no one is freezing, how do you ensure that your heating systems are safe, efficient and sustainable?
For us, it's about operational strategy: deciding how to manage the heating systems in your organisation, how to control them and who should do what.
According to the Swedish Energy Agency, you can earn up to 20 % by having an operating strategy, so it is profitable to have a strategy.
As usual, some people are fully aware of this and others are not. In any case, here are some suggestions on what an operational strategy can contain.
ROUTINES
- What procedures should we have? What should be done and how often? Who is responsible?
- How should we work continuously to save energy?
- How should the work be documented and how should the technical documentation be stored?
PRODUCTS
- What products should we have? Are there spare parts? Delivery time?
- Who will carry out the inspection of installations and work carried out?
- District heating or heat pumps and what will they serve?
OPERATING ORGANISATION
- Should we have our own operating organisation or should we buy the service? Advantages / disadvantages?
- What training programmes should staff attend? How often should staff attend training?
- How do we best take care of newly recruited staff?
